Personal finance, without the sales pitch

Guide your money, don't let money guide you.

TLDR Money is an expense tracker and personal finance app for India that tracks spending automatically from Gmail alerts, values your whole net worth, and projects your FIRE date.

It reads every rupee automatically, values everything you own, and shows exactly when you can retire — funded by your subscription alone. No ads, no referrals, no fund you never asked to buy.

Why we're paid, not free

A free finance app still has to make money.
Just not from you.

When the tracking is free, the revenue comes from somewhere else — and that somewhere else is usually a product being sold back to you. We took the other path.

Free apps earn from
  • Brokerage commissions on trades
  • Loan and credit-card referrals
  • Distribution fees on the funds they sell you

All legitimate. But each one gives the app a reason to sell you something.

TLDR Money earns from
One line.

Your subscription. That's the whole business model.

  • No lending arm
  • No insurance to sell
  • No payout when you buy a mutual fund

The subscription is the alignment. We only do well if the product is worth paying for — not if we can point you toward something else.

What you get

Three numbers that actually run your money.

Set up once. It works from day one — including the three months before you signed up.

📥

Every transaction, already sorted

TLDR reads your Gmail UPI and salary alerts and files each one automatically. No manual entry — and three months of history are backfilled the moment you connect. More on how automatic expense tracking works in India.

Your money data never leaves your side of the fence.

There's no warehouse of your finances on our servers to protect, breach, or monetise — because we don't keep one. The architecture is the privacy policy.

Connected to your Gmail and cloud — not ours

Your financial data stays linked to accounts you already own and control. TLDR reads what it needs to compute your numbers; it doesn't warehouse them.

Read-only access, nothing more

We parse transaction alerts to categorise spend and detect salary credits. TLDR can never move money, place trades, or open accounts on your behalf.

Never sold, never shared

No third-party data brokers, no ad networks, no anonymised-and-resold loophole. Export or delete everything whenever you want.

DPDP compliant

Built to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. You keep the right to access, correct, and erase your data — and consent you can withdraw any time.

Questions worth asking

How is this different from INDmoney, Kuvera, or Groww?

They're free because they make money elsewhere — brokerage commissions, loan referrals, distribution fees on the funds they sell you. That means their incentive is to sell you something. TLDR Money has one revenue line: your subscription. We don't have a lending arm, we don't sell insurance, we don't get paid when you buy a mutual fund. The subscription price is the alignment — we only win if you find the product worth paying for, not if we can cross-sell you something else. We've written the comparisons out one by one — against spreadsheets, Mint, Walnut and broker apps.

What data does TLDR Money access?

Read-only access to the transaction alerts in your Gmail — UPI debits, card spends, salary credits — plus the asset values you add for net worth. That data stays connected to your own Gmail and cloud, not warehoused on our servers. We parse it to compute your numbers; we never move money, place trades, sell it, or share it.

How does cancellation work?

Cancel in one tap, anytime, from inside the app. You keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for, and you can export all your data on the way out. The 14-day trial takes no card, so if you decide TLDR isn’t for you, there’s nothing to cancel and nothing charged.

What happens after the 14-day trial?

Nothing automatic. Because the trial needs no card, it simply ends — your data and setup wait for you if you choose a plan later. Pick Monthly, Annual, or the Founding rate whenever you’re ready; that’s the first time you’re ever charged.
